FACTUM.PRESS is an independent Russian-language publication for those who live outside Russia's information space and want to understand what is happening inside it.

We don't work like a conventional news outlet. The core unit of FACTUM is not the article but the event. Around each event we gather the coverage of independent Russian-language newsrooms — Meduza, The Insider, IStories, Novaya Gazeta Europe, BBC News Russian and others — along with its timeline and links to the primary sources.

Our core principle: an event is considered confirmed once at least three independent sources have reported on it. Until then, the event is openly marked as “developing.” We don't chase speed — confirmation matters more than being first. This mechanism is described in detail on the page “How FACTUM confirms events”.

Why does this matter to the reader? No single newsroom gives the full picture on its own: one has the documents, another its own investigation, a third the international reaction. FACTUM brings these perspectives onto a single page — and the reader no longer depends on what one newsroom happened to see.

FACTUM's texts are original: they are written on the basis of confirmed reporting, not reprinted from it. The texts are produced with the help of algorithms; the editorial team oversees the result, corrects errors, and takes responsibility for what is published. Every article leads back to the primary sources — we believe the reader should be able to verify any fact and go to the original.
