Half of Adam Kadyrov's K-13 unit are relatives and children of officials, Verstka finds

At least nine of the 18 armed men in a photo posted by Adam Kadyrov, son of Chechnya's leader, are relatives of the Kadyrov family or sons of senior Chechen officials and security officers, according to Verstka.

The outlet identified most of the people in the image, which the 19-year-old published to announce the creation of the "K-13 Team." The unit also includes Adam Kadyrov's bodyguards, Verstka reported.

News that the son of the Chechen head had received his own security unit emerged in September. Its fighters are based at a SOBR "Akhmat" facility in Akhmat-Yurt, Ramzan Kadyrov's ancestral village.

According to Verstka, the fighters take part in competitions under Adam Kadyrov's direction and carry out raids on roads, stopping and checking cars and forcing drivers to remove their window tinting.
