Russian opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin has left Russia, announcing his trip in a Telegram post that included a video shot against the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
“There is good news: I am alive and free. Alas, not in Russia yet. Now I need to look around, understand how to live on. I will write about my plans later,” Nadezhdin says in the video. He did not specify how or when he left the country.
In mid-July, Nadezhdin was banned from leaving Russia under the pretext of a decision by the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP). The politician planned to appeal the restriction.
In 2023, Nadezhdin announced his candidacy for the presidential election, but the Central Election Commission refused to register him. Later, he said he intended to run for the State Duma in 2026. Shortly after he began collecting signatures, the Justice Ministry designated him a “foreign agent,” and later he was fined under a protocol on displaying banned symbols over a photograph of Alexei Navalny.
