Current Time and TV Rain reported the same verdict, citing the same source. The charges included spreading "fakes" about the Russian army (Part 2, Article 207.3, paragraph "d" of the Criminal Code), rehabilitating Nazism (Part 2, Article 354.1, paragraph "v"), and calls for "terrorism" and "extremism" (Part 2 of Article 205.2 and Part 2 of Article 280).
According to the friend, Grigoryan was detained and placed under house arrest in June 2025. The comments that prompted the case appeared on Armenian resources, where he wrote that "Hitler should have destroyed them all" and that "after Ukraine [Russian troops] will enter Armenia."
The friend told Mediazona that the young man left such comments out of anger that Russia did not help Armenia in the 2023 war over Nagorno-Karabakh. He also said Grigoryan admitted guilt and repented.
In its statement on the detention, the Investigative Committee, Russia's main federal investigative body, claimed that Grigoryan posted comments "containing insulting formulations humiliating the dignity of a group of persons on the basis of nationality" and that he "openly supported the ideology of Nazism, used Nazi slogans."
He was initially charged only with rehabilitating Nazism and inciting hatred, and the case was to be heard by the Central District Court of Chita. New articles were later added to the case, and in August 2026 it was transferred to the district military court.
According to the defendant's friend, Grigoryan remained under house arrest even after the charges were toughened, rather than being sent to a pre-trial detention center. His relatives therefore hoped he would avoid a real prison term, even after the state prosecutor requested 10 years for him.
