Residents of Russian-occupied Crimea are complaining of salary delays, unpaid leave, and pressure to resign, according to reports. Under posts by Sergei Aksyonov, the Russia-appointed head of the peninsula, commenters describe delayed wages, being sent on unpaid leave, and being asked to write resignation letters of their own accord, the independent outlet Agentstvo reported.
Local business owners also write that they have no money, including for salaries, and that their businesses are effectively idle. Income has dropped sharply, they say.
According to Agentstvo, the Ukrainian authorities' campaign to isolate Crimea has already ruined this year's tourist season on the peninsula. The fuel crisis is also a factor behind the layoffs and forced leave, The Moscow Times reported.
