A fire broke out at the Komsomolsk oil refinery in Russia's Khabarovsk region, the plant's press service confirmed. The blaze was earlier reported by the Telegram channel Astra and the monitoring channel Exilenova+, citing local residents.
According to the plant, auxiliary equipment caught fire. The fire has been extinguished, and there are no casualties. The refinery did not halt operations, and fuel output continues in full volume. The causes of the fire are not yet known; the company has set up a commission to investigate.
The Komsomolsk refinery, part of Rosneft and operating since 1942, is one of the key suppliers of gasoline, diesel and marine fuel in the Far East. Its design capacity is about 8.5 million tons of oil per year. Only two large refineries operate in the region — the Komsomolsk and Khabarovsk plants.
No confirmed Ukrainian strikes on Far Eastern or Eastern Siberian refineries have been reported previously. Ukrainian drones have not reached refineries in this region.
