Five people were killed and ten more injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on the Novoselki industrial zone in Chekhov, Moscow region, Governor Andrei Vorobyov said.
Vorobyov said the attack triggered several fires at the site, with rescuers extinguishing the largest one. The strike damaged an electrical substation and an administrative building.
Seven of the injured suffered wounds of moderate severity, and one person is in serious condition. They were diagnosed with shrapnel and blast injuries, fractures, and damage to soft tissue and the chest. Eight people were taken to hospitals, while two declined hospitalization.
In the village of Solnyshkovo, drone debris damaged a private house and a car. The resulting fire was extinguished, with no casualties reported.
The Novoselki industrial zone houses warehouses and distribution centers of several major Russian companies, including Wildberries, Ozon, M.Video, Lenta, OBI, and SPAR. ASTRA reported that the drone strike may have hit Wildberries warehouse facilities specifically. M.Video's press service said one of its warehouses in the Moscow region had suspended operations, with employees safe and goods undamaged.
Residents of Chekhov complained that no air raid warning was announced in the city during the attack and no SMS alerts were sent. Some residents said they did not know where bomb shelters were located and spent the night on stairwells.
