Magomed Daudov, chairman of the Chechen government, announced that Akhmat Kadyrov, the eldest son of Ramzan Kadyrov, has been given the title 'Nokhchiin Pachkhalkhan Kyonakh' ('Hero of the Chechen Republic'). Daudov called the award recognition of the 20-year-old's personal merits to the republic and noted his contribution to the development of physical culture and sports.
Akhmat Kadyrov has served as Chechnya's minister of sports since May 2024. Since January 2026, he has also been deputy chairman of the republic's government. Previously, he headed the ministry for youth affairs and was president of the Akhmat football club.
In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a commendation to Akhmat Kadyrov for his services and many years of diligent work. At age 18, he received the Order of Akhmat Kadyrov, one of the republic's highest awards, named after his grandfather, the first president of Chechnya.
Akhmat is the second son of the Chechen leader to receive this title. His younger brother Adam Kadyrov, who serves as secretary of Chechnya's Security Council, was named 'Hero of the Chechen Republic' twice: in October 2023 and in June 2026. According to Daudov, the second award was linked to support for the war in Ukraine.
According to the outlet Verstka, since the start of the war, members of Ramzan Kadyrov's family have received about 150 awards of various levels. BBC Russian calculated that more than 80 of Kadyrov's relatives hold leadership positions in Chechnya.
