Multi-storey and private houses in the city of Kaluga sustained damage, governor Vladislav Shapsha said. One of the affected buildings was the Omega residential complex, and several more strikes were recorded on Minskaya Street, ASTRA reported, citing footage from witnesses.

Video showed blown-out windows and damaged balconies.

According to Shapsha's preliminary information, there were injuries, but no one was seriously hurt. All those affected received treatment at the scene and no hospitalisation was required. The injuries, he said, were minor — caused by glass shards.

A "red level" of danger was declared in the region several times during the night. At around five in the morning, reports emerged of drones flying overhead and air defence systems operating, followed by reports of strikes on apartment blocks. In comments under the governor's post, residents complained that the explosions occurred without an air raid alert being announced, ASTRA noted.

The Defence Ministry reported in the morning that 218 Ukrainian drones had been shot down overnight.
