Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas told reporters that Russia is weighing attacks on critical infrastructure in the Baltic region, Bloomberg reported.

According to Kaunas, Moscow could use captured Ukrainian drones for such strikes. The minister said the goal would be to undermine trust in Ukraine and reduce NATO's support for Kyiv.

Kaunas described the scenario as "a false-flag operation using a fake Ukrainian drone." He stressed that one aim is to make NATO hesitate and cut support for Kyiv, but expressed confidence this would not happen.

Lithuanian military intelligence believes Moscow is considering the plan because it mistakenly thinks the Baltic states have allowed Ukraine to use their airspace for strikes on Russian territory. Kaunas noted there is no immediate threat.

Russian pro-war bloggers have previously claimed that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia unofficially let Ukrainian drones fly over their territory. The Baltic states have denied the allegations.

Sources differ on the details: Bloomberg quotes Kaunas as speaking of "possible" strikes, while Lithuanian outlet Euronews, cited by Ekho, reports that intelligence believes Moscow is "mulling" such plans. Euronews also notes that Ukrainian-made drones that fell in the Baltics were diverted by Russian electronic warfare systems, a detail absent from Meduza's account.
