Andrei Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow Region, said the attack began at 3:00 a.m. and continued into the morning. According to his figures, 249 drones were shot down across 17 districts during that period.
In Sofyino, a drone struck a three-story apartment building on Novaya Street. Six apartments on the third floor were damaged, a 44-year-old woman was killed and five other people were injured, including two children. The injured were hospitalized. A warehouse complex in the same settlement caught fire after the attack.
The second fatality was an elderly man in the Orekhovo-Zuyevo district. A drone destroyed and set fire to a private house in which he was located. Another person was injured in the Leninsky district.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin began reporting on the attack at 4:25 a.m. According to him, air defense forces destroyed at least 186 drones flying toward Moscow, and one drone hit a building in the Orekhovy Boulevard area. The mayor did not specify what the building was or whether there were any casualties.
Sobyanin confirmed damage to a facility on the grounds of the Moscow Oil Refinery, without naming which facility was affected. According to him, there were no casualties at the plant. Before the official statement, Ukrainian monitoring channels published footage of a fire at the plant. According to an analysis by the Telegram channel ASTRA, the oil refinery in Moscow's Kapotnya district is on fire. That refinery was already attacked in June.
In Ramenskoye, the roof of a 21-story building caught fire after a drone fell. Four hundred people were evacuated from the building, including 70 children, and 20 cars were damaged. In Kotelniki, a drone hit an apartment building in the Novye Kotelniki microdistrict, and fire engulfed apartments on three floors. According to an OSINT analysis by Ekho, the drone is believed to have hit building No. 16.
In Istra, drone debris damaged an apartment in a residential building. The aftermath of the attack was also recorded in Kolomna, Yegoryevsk, Lyubertsy, Lytkarino and Voskresensk. Residential buildings were damaged in several districts.
Moscow's Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports suspended operations.
