Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting with teachers and education students, proposed explaining the reasons for the war in Ukraine to children by drawing an analogy with killer whales attacking polar bears. One of the teachers told the president about a trip to the North Pole, where he saw two polar bears.
In response, Putin described killer whales that live nearby. "They eat these bears like small fry. They just attack in a pack and tear them apart. It's all very interesting. Such a food chain," TASS quoted him as saying.
The president added that children should be told about this "so they understand what kind of world we live in and why we are conducting a special military operation." Putin did not explain how killer whale attacks on bears relate to the reasons for the invasion of Ukraine.
Putin also recalled Jack London and the customs of northern peoples he described, who left old people to be eaten by wolves because the tribe could not "drag them along." "Yes, it all looks rather harsh, but such is their life," the Russian president added.
