Vladimir Putin's trust rating fell 3.4 percentage points in a week to 73.3%, according to a poll by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) conducted June 22–28. The share of respondents who said they distrusted the president rose to 22.1% from 18.8% a week earlier.
As the outlet Agentstvo noted, this is the fastest weekly decline in trust in Putin since at least the start of the war. The previous record was a drop of 1.8 percentage points in early April.
Approval of Putin's performance as president fell to 66.9%, down 3.5 percentage points from 70.4% a week earlier. The last time approval fell this sharply was in August 2024.
Data from the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) also showed a decline: 70% of respondents rated Putin's work positively, down one percentage point from the previous week. However, FOM's trust rating for Putin rose from 69% to 71%.
The decline in Putin's ratings in spring and summer 2026 comes amid a fuel crisis in Russia. A Gallup poll of Russians conducted from March to May found that 60% of respondents believe the economic situation in their city or region is worsening — the highest figure in 20 years.
