Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight on July 25 with two Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 157 strike drones, some launched from Cape Chauda and the settlement of Hvardiiske in annexed Crimea, Ukraine's Air Force reported. Air defenses shot down or suppressed 127 drones and one missile; 26 drones hit nine locations.
In Sumy, a Russian drone struck the yard of a sorting terminal operated by the logistics company Nova Poshta, killing three drivers employed by partner firms, the company and acting mayor Artem Kobzar said. A large fire broke out and could not be quickly extinguished due to the threat of repeated attacks. Two victims were found at the scene; a third died on the way to the hospital. Several drivers were wounded and are in stable condition. Nova Poshta employees were not hurt; the company activated backup routes to minimize delivery delays.
In Sloviansk, a Russian drone hit a private home, killing one woman and wounding two others, city military administration head Vadym Liakh said. He added that six people died and 27 were wounded in the community over the past day and urged residents to evacuate. In the Kharkiv region, a 67-year-old man was killed and 14 people wounded; homes, hospitals and administrative buildings were damaged, the regional military administration reported.
In Kherson, artillery shelled the Tsentralnyi and Korabelnyi districts, killing one person and seriously wounding two, regional head Oleksandr Prokudin said. In the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, a drone attacked a 44-year-old man on the street; he was hospitalized in moderate condition.
In Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region, overnight strikes wounded ten people and set a two-story shopping center on fire. A new shelling on the morning of July 25 killed a woman and wounded nine, including three children, regional head Ivan Fedorov said. In the Poltava region, four gas stations and a fire station were hit but no one was hurt, regional head Vitalii Diakivnych said.
In the Kyiv region, July 25 was declared a day of mourning after a strike on a training ground where a weapons exhibition was taking place killed at least ten people and wounded about 100. Among the dead was Valentyna Savytska, head of the international cooperation department of Ukraine's State Guard Service.
On July 24, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that, according to intelligence and partner information, Russia had prepared missiles for a new massive strike that could come within 48 hours. He also said Ukrainian intelligence had information about preparations for a new large-scale wave of mobilization in Russia this fall.
