Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) reported that a Russian drone hit a passenger train in the Odesa region, killing the locomotive driver and his assistant.
The locomotive crew continued to operate the train despite the threat, allowing all 340 passengers to safely evacuate the carriages, the company said.
Passenger evacuation is ongoing, with the Odesa regional and city military administrations, the National Police and the State Emergency Service (GSChS) involved. Twenty-one buses have been brought in to transport people.
The company noted that their colleagues "carried out their work to the very end and did everything to protect the people for whom they were responsible."
