Russian forces dropped four glide bombs on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on the afternoon of July 26, killing one person and wounding six, according to local authorities. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said the strikes damaged a gas station, nearby buildings including an educational institution, and set a car on fire. Ukraine's National Police reported that the victim was in a vehicle near the epicenter of one of the blasts.
The previous day, July 25, Russian troops attacked the city with three glide bombs, killing a woman and wounding 11 people, among them three children aged three, five and seven. Later that night, shelling injured another 10 people and set a shopping center on fire.
Zaporizhzhia has come under daily Russian glide-bomb attacks. On July 20, a guided bomb hit a five-story residential building, killing an 11-year-old girl. The next day, a multi-story apartment block was struck, killing three people.
Over the past 24 hours, Fedorov said, Russian forces carried out 1,029 strikes on 50 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. Officials received 80 reports of damage to infrastructure, housing, vehicles and farm buildings.
Russian shelling also hit other Ukrainian regions. In the Kherson region, two people were killed and 24 wounded over the past day, according to regional head Oleksandr Prokudin. He said 18 apartment buildings and 17 private homes were damaged, and a church, a gas station, shops and gas pipelines were destroyed. In Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, a 66-year-old man was injured in a night attack. In Kryvyi Rih, a shopping center was destroyed and caught fire. In Kyiv, three people were injured, one hospitalized and two treated as outpatients, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Ukraine's Air Force said that on the night of July 26, Russia attacked with a Kh-59/69 guided missile, seven Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and 136 attack and decoy drones. Air defense shot down or suppressed one Kh-59/69 missile, five Iskanders and 104 drones. Two Russian ballistic missiles and 27 attack drones hit targets at 18 locations.
