MOSCOW — The Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) is preparing a textbook on the history of Ukraine, its scientific director Mikhail Myagkov said at a press conference in Moscow, as reported by RBC.
According to Myagkov, the book will cover "history from ancient times." The authors plan to address "key moments concerning the unity of the ancient Russian people," as well as why "such a term as 'Ukrainianism' emerged, who is to blame for it, who launched it." "This will be a truthful textbook that will show how, among other things, today's Kyiv regime reached such a state," RBC quoted Myagkov as saying.
Myagkov called it a "separate question" how to "convey the truth to schoolchildren in the territory that is still under the control of the Kyiv regime." He did not specify for which grades the textbook is intended, when it will be published, or who its authors are.

Earlier, RVIO had already presented methodological materials on the history of the "Ukrainian question." In June 2026, presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky and Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov presented the textbook "History of Donbas and Novorossiya" for grades 5–7. Starting September 1, schoolchildren in the annexed and occupied Russian regions of Ukraine are to begin studying from it.
