The Krasnodar region operational headquarters reported the attack by unmanned surface vessels. According to its data, a fire broke out on the Sochi embankment and one person was injured, according to preliminary information. Emergency services are working at the scene; no other details were provided.
Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin wrote on his Telegram channel that all forces and resources are working to defend the city and urged residents to stay in shelter. Air and sea drone alerts were declared in the city and in the Sirius settlement, and sirens sounded in the streets.
Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels published footage of the aftermath of the attack. "Krymsky Veter" reported strikes on the port. One of the clips, according to the posts, captured the moment an aerial drone was shot down. In other videos, several explosions causing fires can be heard on the Sochi embankment. Exilenova+ reported that only one naval drone took part in the attack.
After the attack, traffic around the Sochi port was blocked and the embankment was closed to visitors. A concert by singer Tatyana Bulanova was halted at the Festivalny hall: the artist had managed to perform the first part of the program before the alarm signal prompted the evacuation of the audience.
Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels had previously attacked the port of Sochi on the morning of September 3. Preliminary reports indicated a drone struck the supply vessel Nefrit, designed to support offshore oil and gas operations. The previous night, drones attacked Russia's largest port in Novorossiysk and hit a fuel oil terminal: four people were killed, including a child, Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported. At least 29 other residents were injured, three of them in serious condition. Five apartment buildings and three private houses, a church and a kindergarten were damaged.
