Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin posted a video on his Telegram channel showing him meeting the parents of Aik Roganyan, who was killed in the war in Ukraine. The official presented them with the Order of Courage, which the serviceman was awarded posthumously.
In the footage, Proshunin says the pain of loss is "nothing to overcome," but "nevertheless, he deserved it." After presenting the award to the mother, the mayor shook the father's hand and said: "Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Congratulations. Thank you very much for your son."
Later, the video in Proshunin's post was edited: the phrase "From the bottom of my heart. Congratulations" was cut from the clip.
According to Mediazona, which maintains a list of those killed in the war, Aik Roganyan was born in 2001 and died on February 20, 2024. In the obituary cited by the journalists, it is stated that he was a cadet at the Moscow Combined Arms Higher Command School. It is claimed that by decision of Vladimir Putin, "due to a shortage of officers," the cadets were graduated early and sent to the Western Military District as commanders.
