The election commission of the Sverdlovsk region has refused to register the Rodina party's candidate list for the regional legislative assembly elections, according to the commission's Telegram channel.
The commission said Rodina failed to submit a full package of documents required for registration, including signature sheets. Earlier, the commission had notified the party about missing documents.
Last week, the Sverdlovsk election commission registered the Yabloko party for the regional legislative elections, which is running under the slogan "For peace and freedom, for life without fear." Rodina has actively opposed Yabloko's participation in the upcoming elections.
On August 10, the Supreme Court upheld Rodina's lawsuit to remove Yabloko's list from the State Duma elections, allegedly due to foreign funding and copyright violations. Earlier, a court in Karelia, in a similar lawsuit, annulled the registration of Yabloko candidates for the local parliament.
Rodina leader Alexei Zhuravlev has called Yabloko members "national traitors who work for the West."
