Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia's presidential commissioner for children's rights, said the teenagers died in the attack, and six other children were hospitalized with injuries including shrapnel wounds, burns and concussions. She described their condition as moderate.
Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said the teenagers were killed and injured when debris from a downed drone struck a private children's center. According to the local news outlet 93.ru, the center operates out of an ordinary two-story building in Krasnodar's Prikubansky district. Locals call it a boarding house, while the organization's website describes it as a "private nature kindergarten."
The regional operational headquarters said the total number of casualties in the attack rose to 12. People were injured when drone debris fell on a five-story apartment building and the private children's center. Ten people, including six children, were hospitalized.
The overnight attack targeted warehouses of Ozon, Russia's second-largest online marketplace. The company reported a fire at its logistics center on the outskirts of Krasnodar. Warehouses in Adygeisk, Nevinnomyssk and on the outskirts of Makhachkala also came under attack. All the logistics centers suspended operations after the strike. According to the outlet Astra, a warehouse of the home goods chain Kuchenland Home also caught fire in Krasnodar.
