The United Kingdom expanded its sanctions list against Russia by 19 entries, covering six financial institutions, shipbuilding and industrial companies, one individual, and six vessels.
The restrictions hit Ozon Bank, RosEximbank, Center-Invest, Realist Bank, Stavr Bank and TelePort Bank. The bank owned by the Ozon marketplace was blacklisted for operating in Russia's financial sector, which the UK said is "of strategic importance" to the Russian authorities.
Among the companies are shipbuilder Severny Inzhiniring, as well as MetallKomplekt, NIKom, Promsiz and TekhnoLux. Sanctions were also imposed on Alexander Zhdanov, owner of the chemical company Siltron.
The list also includes Indian maritime logistics firm Frion Ship Management, one LNG carrier and five oil tankers: Arctic Express, Perseas, Torvian, Asteras, Visund and Zenturo. Britain was the first country to sanction vessels carrying Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Ozon Bank said it has no assets abroad, does not operate outside Russia and does not use the SWIFT system, so the new sanctions will not affect its operations. According to the Expert RA rating, Ozon Bank ranks 18th by assets, with nearly 900 billion rubles.
