The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said the attack was carried out by its Alfa Special Operations Center together with the Ukrainian Navy. According to the agency, optical and foundry production facilities, an assembly section, a galvanic shop and a printed circuit board workshop were damaged. Neptune cruise missiles and Ruta, Palianytsia and Bars jet-powered drone missiles were used in the strike.
According to the General Staff, the plant is part of the Tactical Missiles Corporation and specializes in the production of optical-mechanical and optical-electronic products, electronic systems for artillery, missile and anti-tank weapons, as well as radar homing heads for tactical guided missiles.
The monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+ had earlier reported that Ukraine attacked the plant. The Telegram channel Supernova+ published footage said to show the strike on the plant, as well as on the city's house of culture, located 1.4 km from the enterprise.
Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed the attack on the region. According to him, one person was injured in Taganrog and four in Azov. Slyusar said more than 30 drones were shot down over the region and reported damage to "industrial facilities" in Azov, without specifying which ones.
The Azov city administration declared a state of emergency in "territories affected by the air attack."
Accounts differ: the Ukrainian General Staff and SBU say the plant, part of the Tactical Missiles Corporation, was hit, while Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar speaks of damage to "industrial facilities" without naming a specific enterprise.
