Ukrainian forces have updated their list of priority targets for long-range strikes on Russian territory, President Volodymyr Zelensky said after a meeting with military commanders. The new list was compiled 'in accordance with the real impact' on Russia's ability to continue the war, Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
Since the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have carried out more than 1,000 'fire missions' as part of the DeepStrike strategy, Zelensky said. He specified that Ukrainian weapons already reach targets at a distance of more than 3,000 kilometers, and their range continues to increase. Zelensky noted that having a 'strategic depth of the rear' has ceased to be an advantage for Russia—it has now become a 'problem' for it.
'The main goal is for our long-range pressure to further push Russia toward diplomacy due to the complication of producing components for weapons, oil and other economic losses, as well as returning this war to its 'home port,'' Zelensky wrote.
Among the already struck targets, Zelensky named oil infrastructure, military industry enterprises, and systemically significant logistics facilities. According to The Insider, as of July 20, at least 16 Russian oil refineries had fully or partially halted processing after Ukrainian attacks since the start of the year. Among the attacked plants are the Volgograd, Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Saratov, Syzran, and Moscow refineries.
One of the farthest confirmed attacks was a strike on the Omsk refinery on July 6. The plant, located nearly 2,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, halted oil processing and stopped exchange sales of gasoline and diesel fuel. Units providing about 75% of the plant's capacity were taken offline.
In July, Ukrainian drones also repeatedly attacked Wildberries logistics centers. Fires occurred at the company's warehouses in the Tambov and Moscow regions, Krasnodar, Nevinnomyssk, St. Petersburg, and the Leningrad region. According to Zelensky, the attacked centers were involved in supplying sanctioned components for the production of Russian drones and navigation equipment.
On July 24, the Avitek plant in Kirov, which produces surface-to-air guided missiles, was attacked. Six people were killed and 32 wounded in the strike.
Zelensky said that a significant part of Russian air defense is concentrated around Moscow, St. Petersburg, state residences, and the Kerch Strait Bridge, so remote regions are less protected. Satellite images confirm a large-scale strengthening of the defense of the capital and the president's residence on Valdai. OSINT researcher Jembob counted about 125 known short-range air defense positions in Moscow and the Moscow region. Around Putin's residence on Valdai, the number of towers with Pantsir systems reached 27 by spring.
At the end of June, Zelensky said he had approved a '40-day influence operation' for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) against Russia aimed at ending the war, and on July 10 he announced the creation of a 'long-range influence command on Russia' within the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
