Orenburg region governor Yevgeny Solntsev confirmed the drone attack on the region, saying a fire at an industrial facility started after debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle fell, with no casualties reported so far.

Footage published after the attack was filmed at the Orsk refinery Orsknefteorgsintez, according to Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+ and the Astra outlet. The footage shows flames and a column of smoke.

Air defense systems and mobile fire teams shot down eight drones, Solntsev said, adding that the attack on the region's enterprises is ongoing. Orsk airport introduced restrictions on flight arrivals and departures due to the drone threat.

Orsknefteorgsintez is the largest oil refinery in the Orenburg region, with a capacity of about 6 million tonnes of oil per year. The plant is part of the ForteInvest holding, owned by billionaire Mikhail Gutseriyev's Safmar group. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, aviation kerosene and other products, playing a key role in supplying the Urals and the Volga region.

The refinery has been repeatedly targeted by drone attacks before, with strikes recorded on October 3 and November 11, 2025, as well as on April 29 of this year.
