The outlet said Tkach was carrying out an editorial assignment connected to the search for Kravchenko. Ukrainska Pravda called the detention unlawful and demanded his release along with an official explanation from Austrian law enforcement.

The newsroom said it has no direct contact with Tkach. According to its information, he was taken to a place of detention, and a lawyer has been in touch with him.

Tkach was with his colleague Yaroslav Bondarenko. The outlet does not know where Bondarenko is.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said it had received information about the detention. Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi said Ukraine's embassy in Austria has already asked the Austrian side to clarify the circumstances, and that a consul has formally requested access to the detained citizen. The consul is already in contact with Austrian counterparts, he said.

Kravchenko went abroad in September, saying he was on a business trip. That followed the arrest of Serhiy Krapyva, deputy head of a department at the Prosecutor General's Office, who was accused of possible involvement with fraudulent call centers. Kravchenko himself has not been charged and has denied involvement with the call centers.

On September 7, Kravchenko resigned as prosecutor general. On the morning of September 14, he accused the leadership of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) of violations, after which his departure from the country became known.
