Elena Morgunova, wife of artist and activist Pavel Krissevich, was arrested for 10 days in the Ryazan region, according to the projects "Zone of Freedom" and "Word for Defense," citing Morgunova's relatives. Krissevich confirmed the detention to Meduza.
Morgunova was detained in the town of Skopin on August 28. According to Telegram channels, she had temporarily returned to Russia from France, where she lives with her husband; they left the country in December 2025.
Police stopped the bus Morgunova was riding with her mother under the pretext of checking documents. Officers checked only the two of them and asked whether Morgunova had been in Paris. After she answered affirmatively, both were taken off the bus and brought to a police station.
At the station, Morgunova was asked to unlock her phone, and she refused. According to relatives, police threatened to put her mother in a nearby cell and release her dog outside. Eventually, Morgunova unlocked the phone, and her mother and dog were released.
According to "Zone of Freedom," the arrest was ordered because of the refusal to unlock the phone. "Ostorozhno Media" reports that the charge involves disobedience to a police order; the exact article of the code is unknown.
