Verstka journalists analyzed data from Wildberries' internal seller system and found that from May to August, the marketplace sold military and dual-use goods worth at least 1.646 billion rubles. The outlet stressed this is a minimum estimate: only six categories were analyzed — 'Body armor', 'Drones', 'Quadcopter accessories', 'Weapon accessories', 'Night vision devices', and 'Hunting scopes' — which together contain at least 31,500 products.
The sharpest decline came in the 'Quadcopter accessories' category. In the two weeks from July 18 to 31, the number of orders fell by 39% and purchases by 36%. Over three months, such goods brought in 118 million rubles in sales.
In the 'Body armor' category, which includes about 3,000 items such as bulletproof vests, orders dropped by 24% and purchases by 40% over the same period. Three-month sales there totaled 472 million rubles.
Ukrainian drones began regularly attacking Wildberries logistics facilities on July 18, hitting more than 20 company centers. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the warehouses were used to supply sanctioned components for drone production and military equipment. After the attacks began, Wildberries removed its 'Everything for the Special Military Operation' section, but military goods continued to be sold in other categories.
