Moscow police detained Artem Snegovsky, a Yabloko candidate for the State Duma, near the territorial election commission in the Maryino district, the party's Moscow branch reported.
Snegovsky was taken to the Maryino police station. Kirill Goncharov, head of Moscow Yabloko, said officers initially told him and lawyer Nikita Spivak that the detainee was not there, sending them to the Maryinsky District police department, where they repeated the same claim.
Goncharov later wrote that Snegovsky was found inside the station. According to the branch head, officers were, 'to put it mildly, being disingenuous' about the candidate's absence.
Police issued Snegovsky a protocol under the article on 'discreditation' of the Russian army (Article 20.3.3 of the Russian Administrative Code). Yabloko claims the case is linked to a post the candidate allegedly published in 2022. The court date has not yet been announced.
