Yandex Music, the Russian streaming service, plans to introduce labeling for tracks created using artificial intelligence. Company representatives told Izvestia that negotiations with rights holders are currently underway, and data is being collected on which content was generated by AI tools.
The company has not yet decided what the label will look like. The service does not plan to separate such compositions into a distinct category.
The announcement follows similar plans by Spotify. Starting in September, the service will mark artist profiles backed by AI-generated images. Music by such artists will by default disappear from editorial and algorithmic recommendations unless the user has shown interest in them. The Spotify label will apply only to the artist's public image; the service uses separate labeling to indicate AI involvement in creating the compositions themselves.
Since 2025, major music streaming platforms have begun implementing mechanisms to detect and label AI-generated tracks.
