Yandex Pay is no longer available in the App Store, the company said in its Telegram channel, noting that Apple removed the app even from the Russian version of the store. In July, Yandex Pay had already disappeared from foreign versions of the App Store.
Meanwhile, Google Play removed the Ozon Bank app. A search for it returns no page, while other Ozon ecosystem apps, including the marketplace, remain available. Ozon Bank said the removal would not affect its operations and that previously downloaded versions continue to work. The Ozon Bank app is still available in the App Store for now.
Both companies advise users not to delete installed apps and to disable automatic deletion on iPhones. Re-downloading or updating them is currently impossible.
The removals follow the inclusion of Yandex Bank and Ozon Bank in EU and UK sanctions lists in July. The restrictions were part of the 21st EU sanctions package, which targeted 96 Russian financial institutions. Apple has previously removed other Russian apps, including VK and the Max messenger, citing the need to comply with sanctions.
