Ukrainian drones attacked the Yaroslavl region overnight on August 6, Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said, calling it the "most massive" strike on the area. Electronic warfare and air defense systems destroyed 88 drones, he said, and traffic was halted on the road from Yaroslavl toward Moscow.
Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+, as well as the outlet Astra, reported a fire at the Slavneft-YANOS refinery, owned by Slavneft, citing eyewitness photos and videos showing several columns of smoke. Yevrayev did not explain the strong fires visible over Yaroslavl.
In the morning, the governor said the attack destroyed a private house, blew out windows in several apartment buildings, and damaged cars. No deaths or injuries were reported, he said, without specifying where the damage occurred.
Yaroslavnefteorgsintez (Slavneft-YANOS) is Russia's fifth-largest oil refinery by capacity. Since the start of 2026, Ukraine has attacked the plant at least six times, forcing partial or full shutdowns that have led to fuel shortages and price increases.
