The Russian financial monitoring service, Rosfinmonitoring, confirmed Dud's inclusion in the register but said it does not disclose the grounds for the listing. Several outlets reported that an asterisk appears next to the journalist's name.

According to Rosfinmonitoring, the register is one the agency updates regularly. Some sources note that an asterisk in the list usually denotes involvement in a terrorism case.

Russia's Investigative Committee has ordered a review of Dud's interview with Denis Kapustin, the head of the Russian Volunteer Corps. The agency said the video contains "positive assessments of banned misanthropic ideologies" and shows "signs of popularizing violent actions against people on the basis of nationality." Kapustin has been convicted in absentia in Russia and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Russian Volunteer Corps is designated a terrorist organization in Russia, and people convicted of ties to it receive long sentences under terrorism or treason statutes. Dud's interview drew more than 2.5 million views in its first 24 hours.

Dud has been on the Justice Ministry's "foreign agents" register since 2022. In November 2025, a Moscow court sentenced the journalist in absentia to one year and 10 months in a penal colony under a statute on failing to comply with "foreign agent" obligations.
