Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck two oil refineries on Russian territory. Zelensky wrote about the attacks on his Telegram channel.
According to Zelensky, the Slavyansk refinery in the Krasnodar region was hit. The plant is located about 300 kilometers from the front line.
The second strike, Zelensky said, targeted a refinery in the Yaroslavl region, approximately 700 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. Russian authorities did not report an attack on that plant.
“We continue our operations that weaken Russia’s ability to wage this war,” Zelensky wrote.
Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that a drone attack on the Slavyansk refinery caused a fire. He also said a power line and a gas pipe were damaged. The governor added that drone debris fell on several houses, killing one person.
Earlier, OSINT analysts established that a fire broke out at the Slavyansk refinery after the strike. Local authorities limited their reporting to a statement about a fire at the facility.
