Case summary

Resident of Yekaterinburg, former associate professor at the Ural State Mining University. In the past, he was the head of the Human Resources Management Department and later worked at the college attached to the university. On 30 October 2024, he was detained in a case of spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces because of statements made at a lecture. According to the prosecution's version, in March 2024, Abramov called Russia's actions in Ukraine an occupation at a history lecture in the presence of at least ten people. The case was initiated after the students' statement. On 2 November, the court elected Abramov a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. On 28 May 2025, he was sentenced to 10 months of correctional labour.
