Case summary

Resident of Ryazan. Worked at the Bulat machine-building plant. In January 2023, a case was brought against him for rehabilitation of Nazism because of an anti-war publication on VKontakte. On 4 October 2023, Bakanov's home was searched. On 12 October, a case was brought against him for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces because of three anti-war tweets. In November 2023, Bakanov was fired from the plant after the director received a call from an investigator to summon Bakanov to the entrance hall. On 15 November, Bakanov was formally charged with contempt of commemoration, but the case was dropped the next day. On 19 November 2024, Bakanov was sentenced to two and a half years' probation on the defamation case.
