Case summary

A resident of Ingushetia. He belongs to a religious and community group of Batalhajins, followers of Sheikh Batal Hajji, who profess a particular version of Sufism, an ancient ascetic-mystical movement in Islam. The investigation considers him a member of the "military wing" of the religious brotherhood of Batalhazhin. Since 2015 he lives in Ukraine. He is suspected of organizing the murder of the head of the Center for Combating Extremism in Ingushetia, Ibragim Eldzharkiev, and his brother Abdulakhmed in Moscow. In 2020, he was put on an international "wanted" list in connection to this case and arrested in absentia.
