Case summary

In April 2020, Bikbayeva was searched in connection with the fact that in 2018-2019 she donated 6,000 rubles to the mother of Bashkir opposition activist Airat Dilmukhametov, who is being prosecuted under extremist articles. Bikbayeva was taken to the FSB for questioning and officially charged with financing extremist activities in December. Bikbayeva claimed that she transferred part of the money for Dilmukhametov's trip with her father to the village of Sunarchi in the Orenburg region, where it was planned to erect a memorial stone to the Bashkirs who died in May 1736, and another part to the politician's mother, who had "little means of subsistence" after her son's arrest. On 6 September 2021 she was sentenced to three years suspended sentence.
