Case summary
She was a correspondent for the "Uglegorskie Novosti" ("Uglegorsk News") newspaper and in 2015 ran for the Council of the Shakhtersk urban settlement as a candidate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). Two cases of discrediting the Armed Forces were initiated against her, one went to court in June 2023, the other in August 2023. On 6 October 2023, Bilega was sentenced to two years' suspended sentence in the first case. On October 31, a similar sentence was handed down in the second case.
