Case summary
He is a former coordinator of Alexei Navalny’s headquarters in Novosibirsk and deputy of the Novosibirsk City Council. He has left Russia. Tatiana Sazonova, an aide to a State Duma deputy, demanded that a libel case be initiated against Boiko after he claimed that a 100-year-old World War II veteran had died of a coronavirus after visiting her.
In February 2023, an arrest warrant was issued for Boiko as part of a certain criminal case, details of which are unknown. On 31 March 2023, he was added to the register of “foreign agents”. In September 2024, a case was initiated against him for evasion of his duties as a “foreign agent”.
On 22 October 2024, Boiko was added to Rosfinmonitoring’s list of extremists and terrorists, with a note that is placed at the names of people facing prosecution under terrorist articles.
In January 2026, the RBC and Kommersant newspapers reported that Boiko had been sentenced in absentia to 400 hours of compulsory labour in a case of evading his duties as a “foreign agent”.
