Case summary
A resident of Stavropol. A case was brought against him for discrediting the Armed Forces because of a message in a chat room with 7,000 users in one of the messengers. The content of the message is unknown, but the authors of the linguistic expertise indicated that it contained "information about hostile (violent) actions (deprivation of life) committed by Russian servicemen (Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) on the territory of Ukraine against its residents", as well as psychological and linguistic signs of belief "in the negative nature of the purposes of using the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" in Ukraine.
In late January 2025, Filippov was placed in custody. On 20 May 2025, he was sentenced to one and a half years of compulsory labour and a two-year ban on administering chat rooms, groups and communities on the Internet. After the verdict was announced, Filippov was released from custody.
