Case summary

A criminal case was initiated against Lenar Galimov and other members of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Kazan in connection with a number of actions using symbols of the banned movement, including pickets and rallies, which were dedicated to banning the translation of the Koran and persecution of Muslims; he was under house arrest; the prosecutor asked the court to sentence Galimov to six and a half years in prison; Galimov managed to escape from the investigation

Earlier, Galimov was sentenced to a year in an open prison on charges of organising the activities of a banned organisation.
