Editorial summary
Anastasia Eduardovna Hlukhovska is a Ukrainian journalist from Melitopol who worked for the local outlet RIA Melitopol, now known as RIA Pivden. She was born on January 26, 1993.
After Russian forces occupied Melitopol, Hlukhovska stopped working as a journalist and withdrew from public life. Her sister has said that she did so deliberately in an effort to reduce the risk of persecution.
On August 20, 2023, Russian security forces carried out a large operation in Melitopol targeting journalists and administrators of pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels. Hlukhovska was detained that day along with other media workers.
Unlike several other detainees from the same operation, Hlukhovska has not been publicly prosecuted or convicted. No reliable public source identifies a formal criminal charge against her.
For a long period, Russian authorities did not acknowledge holding her and her family had no direct contact with her. Released detainees later helped reconstruct her detention route, including imprisonment in Taganrog and later transfer to Kizel in Russia’s Perm region.
In 2026, RSF and Ukrainian media organizations obtained new testimony indicating that Hlukhovska was alive and being held in Detention Centre No. 3 in Kizel. Her sister later reported that she remained confined to a cell and was required to sew prison items. Other released detainees reported health problems, including swelling in her legs.
