Case summary

On 10 February 2017, he was arrested and charged with incitement to hatred against representatives of the judiciary. He was also charged with justification of terrorism, illegal acquisition of special technical means intended for the covert acquisition of information, and illegal acquisition and storage of weapons. During the investigation, an expert examination revealed "signs of mental disorder" in Gyurdzhiyan. In June 2017, he was transferred to a psychiatric hospital. On 21 September, the court ruled to send him to compulsory treatment. On 23 December, Gyurdzhiyan escaped from the hospital, but on 25 December he was back there again.

On 18 April 2019, the charge of incitement to hatred was removed from the case.
