Ruslan Khubaev

Ruslan Khubaev is the former head of the Murmansk branch of the banned National Bolshevik Party and later the Other Russia. In 2006, he was accused of insulting a representative of the authorities because of a rally against conscription and Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, as well as because of illegal possession and sale of drugs, while it was an FSB officer who was witnessing against him (before that, Khubaev had bullets planted in his apartment). The insult charge was later dropped. He was sentenced to 4.5 years in a strict regime colony. According to his fellow party members and human rights activists, the case was falsified. In October 2010, he was released. On 22 December 2010, his apartment was searched and a large box of literature and money were seized (on the same day, the homes of other activists of the Other Russia and other opposition movements were searched in Murmansk).

On 26 March 2011, Khubaev was arrested in connection with the clashes over the Manezh case. On 28 October 2011, he was sentenced to four years' imprisonment in a strict regime colony. The court of second instance reduced the sentence by two months. Khubaev was released on 23 January 2015.
