Case summary

He repeatedly joined anti-war rallies in Krasnoyarsk, being regularly detained for that. The first time since the beginning of the Russian invasion he was detained on 26 February 2022 because of a jacket with a statement "No to War". There were similar detentions in May, June and July 2022. He also held solitary pickets in support of political prisoners and against the introduction of troops into Kazakhstan. In July 2023, a criminal case was opened against him for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Kapustin was on a recognisance not to leave, however, since 11 January 2024 he has not appeared at meetings and was placed on the wanted list
