Case summary
Participated in protests in Ingushetia in 2019 due to changes in the border between Ingushetia and Chechnya. According to some reports, he was put on the wanted list, but the lawyer denies this. On September 27, 2023, a message appeared that Kartoev surrendered to the police. According to the lawyer, Kartoev was in Murmansk, was not hiding from anyone and did not know that the police needed him. The operatives called him and offered to meet. He gave his address in Murmansk, they arrived and returned to Ingushetia with him. The lawyer claims that Kartoev made a confession. The next day he was placed under house arrest. Initially, it was reported that he was charged with organizing the use of violence against government officials and participating in the activities of an extremist community, but then it became known that Kartoev was accused of using violence against a government official that was dangerous to life and health.
