Case summary
Tomsk resident, researcher at the V.E. Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics. He was engaged in laser technologies. Detained in September 2023 at his workplace. His graduate student Zhang Sho, a Chinese citizen, was detained together with him. According to "Mediazona", Zhang Sho returned to his home country after the detention. A case of confidential cooperation with a foreign state or organisation was opened against Klimkin. On 5 June 2024, Klimkin was sentenced to two and a half years in a general regime colony.
