According to the investigation, between June and August 2023, Kogut, while in Kyrgyzstan, published four videos on her YouTube channel containing information discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces during a special military operation. According to the publication URA.RU, the reason for the case were the videos on the channel "Valentina Kogut - Unravelling the World". They are called ""Wolves at the Exam. The Future of Russia", "Mass Media of Russia. Alko-bees", "Russians Will Change the World. The Failure of the Jews." Among other things, they talk about the contradictions in coverage of war-related topics, and compare Russia to Japan and Germany in the 1930s and 1940s. In October 2022, Kogut was twice fined under the administrative article on discrediting the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences) because of videos on his YouTube channel and publications in VKontakte.

In May 2024, a case was brought against her for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces because of a video on her YouTube channel. Kogut was given a recognizance not to leave.
