According to the investigation, having found accomplices - "traffers" - on the Internet, he sent them malicious files, which they were supposed to distribute under the guise of sending e-mails to computers of foreign citizens - residents of Western Europe, as well as North and South America. Each "traffer" was to receive $250 for infecting 1,000 computers. In this way, Kovalenko gained access to users' information, which he stored on the hard drive of the computer for the purpose of subsequent purchases of goods in online shops, including Bay, Walmart, Amazon, at the expense of the money of bank card holders whose data he had stolen. In addition, he financed the activities of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, a recognised extremist organisation.
